American band Imagine Dragons first visited Ukraine before the full-scale russian invasion. The Grammy nominees, and winners of the American Music, Billboard Music and World Music met an audience of over 50,000 people in Kyiv’s Olimpiyskiy NSC, during a 2018 concert.
Their second concert was scheduled for the 3rd of June 2022. However, it was indefinitely delayed when the full-scale invasion began.
“Our thoughts are with Ukraine and all others suffering from this needless war,” wrote the musicians on their Instagram. Frontman Dan Reynolds also called on his subscribers to help Ukraine however they can.
On the 23rd of July 2022, Imagine Dragons became official ambassadors of the UNITED24 platform, joining the fundraiser for C-type ambulances — thanks to these reanimobiles, medics are able to save even heavily injured people. Overall, the project, which was announced as part of the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, has raised over $6,000,000. With these funds, 92 vehicles were purchased and are already helping Ukrainian medics out in the field.
Other than that, the band has recorded an airplane announcement for the passengers of the Ukrainian airline SkyUp, which is currently operating across Europe. In their announcement, the band encourages people to help Ukraine by donating. Imagine Dragons also contribute towards the 24,000 Friends of Ukraine initiative and hold events to support UNITED24, such as giveaways for any of their concerts before 2025 and a signed guitar.
During their Zoom call with the Ukrainian President, the musicians said that they dream of visiting Ukraine again soon. Who knows, maybe it’ll happen very soon indeed.
